Charles Batham founded Broome Trike Flights in 1999 to introduce people to a safe, economical and fun way to experience flying.
The School was granted permission to operate at Broome International Airport. This is quite unique in the World; it is the only school of its kind with such a privilege. It goes without saying that the standards of safety are of the highest. This does not compromise the sheer pleasure of the introductory flight.
The School enjoys incredible goodwill from all the operators and airport officials.
Charles Batham is a Chief Flight Instructor with over 3000 hrs and 15 years flying experience with "Trikes".
The latter has sailed round the world; he took ten years to ride a motorbike round the world through 91 countries; has lived extensively on four Continents plus numerous islands. He continues with his adventure travels when ever time permits. Too many stories to be told here !
Strangely, flying is not a pastime which Charles ever wished to be involved with.......he also has a very bad height phobia!
It all started due to his meeting an Australian girl who decided that she wanted a Trike. He had to learn the hard way and how to overcome the phobia. This has ended up being most beneficial as it has provided him with the knowledge of how to help others who might otherwise not try; above all, it creates its own desire for high safety standards.
With the state of security these days there is yet another unique feature about this operation; Charles has his own gate into Broome International Airport and he lives on an Aboriginal settlement.
